I received a baked goody from a friend today as a gift. There are so many reasons why this is something to be thankful for. The most obvious of reasons is that you're friend is giving you a gift, so yes, thank you for that. It's a thoughtful gesture indeed. But then there's a few other layers to this. One being, thankful for the fact that you have something like cake as a treat, when there are obviously people in the world who don't have that luxury. Secondly it's the process of baking itself. There is so much that goes into creating something that makes the process very extraordinary. I really do believe the creative process is one where the creator puts part of himself into the product. And in this case that product provides nourishment. And I really think that's such a special thing to offer someone. We all know eating is not merely a physical act, unless you don't eat for pleasure, then that's a whole other story. So, not only are you giving a part of yourself away, but in doing so you're offering both physical and emotional sustenance. A product of your creative efforts that is
nourishing, isn't that kind of amazing when you think about it?
