Day 19 - long distance phone calls

It's one thing for someone to call you when you see them every so often, and another thing to hear from a friend who's halfway across the country or world. I love the surprise! Although it seems like a small gesture, it's definitely one that's heart warming. For one thing, the person has to pay for the phone call, and yah it's obviously in most cases pretty trival, but still. Secondly, it's either because they wanted to share news with you or because they missed you, both of which are special. And finally, it was a deliberate intention to contact you and the conversation is usually refreshingly pleasant, like listening to a song you haven't heard in ages that you love. Just makes you feel good to have moments like that with a friend and to be thought of or missed enough that someone would extend themselves like that.
