We sometimes put our authority figures, role models and people we admire on pedestals. We want to assume that someone we aspire to be like, is a perfect example. Sometimes though, through conversations with these people, we realise the flaws they have. Their weaknesses, that they mistakes in life; their humanity. This happened to me today, and I was really humbled by it. We forget sometimes that these people are humans too, and that it's ok for them to make mistakes. If anything, these flaws should be a reminder that we shouldn't put people on a pedestal, but rather learn from them. The qualities we admire in others are much more tangible than we think. Respect and admiration are great, but expecting perfection from anyone not only will let you down, but also isn't fair.
