I went for lunch today with a group of people that normally don't hang out together. It was great to see people interact without any bias. I think we sometimes identify with the people around us, and sometimes that creates bias, prejudice and inhibits us from being open to other people because they're "different". But, the second all those social groups are torn apart and reorganized into neutral environments we are able to open up to other people, if we're obviously willing. Seeing this dynamic today made me really appreciate this. Not all of us mean to do this, but it happens, and if this neutral environment lasts long enough all the baggage and effect of our social circles disintegrates. And I'm really thankful for these moments because it really gives people a chance to understand each other.
