I think one of the best ways to get to know a person is when they're in their element, whether it be around familiar friends, within a comfortable context they can excel in or even at a venue or activity that they find inspiring. Qualities a person rarely shows come out in these circumstances because they are surrounded enough by things they feel comforted by that their walls are torn down. You see people laugh, talk and accept more in these situations. They are less worried about being defensive, offended and insecure about what they have to offer because there is an abundance of that part of themselves, there is safety in numbers. Its almost the opposite effect that a crisis would have on a person, in some ways its the best way to view what and how people are a willing to offer themselves to you.
